Beauty on the Fly
A very important piece of travel prep is planning your glam. For me, taking pictures is such a big part of traveling, especially if you're in a far flung destination that you may never visit again -- you need to look photo-ready, jet lag and all.
Below are some of my favorite tips and tricks for ensuring you're pulled together after even the most hellish travel days.
When you have a wig like I do, a blow out is vital. Done the day before, or even the morning of your departure, this saves major time getting ready each day and keeps you looking pulled together. Drybar is in most major cities and they have a menu at each salon chair that allows you to easily choose your look. From a stick straight blow-out to hair with a little volume, Drybar is a complete lifesaver.
After hair, nails are an easy, affordable way to sort yourself out before a trip. While a simple manicure and a couple swipes of Essie are great - and my usual go-to - every now and then you need something a little exotic. Enter Acronychous. Located in the RiNo neighborhood of Denver, Acronychous specializes in nail art in addition to being an incredibly cozy, safe and clean nail salon. Check out their Instagram handle for swoon-worthy nail art that will have you booking an appointment in no-time.
TSA-Approved Mini Products
I am a big fan of packing my own mini products because you can't rely the random brands you'll find in your hotel bathroom. Some of the best beauty brands on the market now create mini versions of their tried and true favorites and trust me, your makeup bag will never be the same.
I read somewhere that it's a fact that your quality of sleep is worse in hotel rooms, so it helps to keep things consistent no matter where you are! Coming in at a perfect 3.4oz, this face wash is my travel essential. It's no secret that I love Aesop products and this cleanser has a subtle calming scent and a clarifying formula that is ideal for decompressing after a day of early morning flights and or a day-long road trip.
Tresemmé's travel-sized dry shampoo is easy to come by at any drugstore or Target, goes on invisible after application, and can revive limp plane hair or just plain old dirty hair. It also helps extend the life of your blowout, ensuring a fresh 'do for days.
Tom Ford Black Orchid Eau de Parfum Touch Point An important thing to always have on hand is a little rollerball perfume. If I'm on a work trip, a dab of fragrance helps me feel pulled together; if I'm on vacation somewhere tropical, perfume, toothpaste and lotion is sometimes the only beauty regimen you need.
