São Paulo's Shopping Mall Scene
Let me preface this by saying that normally I would never, ever suggest that you check out a mall while traveling abroad. Local markets, curated boutiques, open-air bazaars? Yes. 100% yes. But a mall? No way. You can wait to pop into the GAP when you're back home. Then...I went to Brazil.
Shopping malls in São Paulo knocked my socks off. They are unbelievably chic, architecturally stunning and social hubs spread throughout the city. A departure from the Apple Store/Starbucks meccas that we find in the United States, Brazilian malls have all of these staples plus Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Christian Louboutin, incredible restaurants, glamorous fashion events and cute coffee shops that are frequented all day, every day. I was so surprised to see malls full of gorgeous people on a random Tuesday but when some of the best restaurants in the city are in the malls, that's where you go.
Speaking of gorgeous people, Brazilian women are obviously pros when it comes to beauty and grooming but almost every person I saw inside of a mall looked like they were on their way to a red carpet. Professional hair/makeup and styled to perfection, these women are not messing around. Get yourself to a mall the next time you're in Brazil and don't you dare wear yoga pants.

Itaim Bibi, São Paulo - SP, 04543-011, Brazil
Located in Itaim Bibi, Iguatemi is THE mall. It's beautiful, centrally located, has every shop you could ever imagine. Coincidentally, both times I've been to São Paulo, I attended a schmancy party at Iguatemi because their programming and events are just that awesome.
Av. Magalhães de Castro, 12000
Cidade Jardim, São Paulo - SP, 05502-001, Brazil
Cidade Jardim is so lush and so green that it feels as though you just stumbled upon a Saint Laurent in the middle of the Amazon. Inspired by the most elegant streets in the world, the shops all face modern gardens, chic concrete walkways and are furnished with modern furniture and intimate sitting areas. A unique take on a food court, high-end restaurants like Nonno Ruggero, Kosushi, Adega Santiago and twenty-eight other delicious options are spotted throughout the mall and there's also a gorgeous gym, two pools and a high-rise luxury apartment complex above the mall because honestly, who wouldn't want to live here?

Higienópolis, São Paulo - SP, 01238-000, Brazil
Pátio Higienópolis is a classic mall in Higienópolis, one of São Paulo's most distinguished neighborhoods. The six floors of this mall were thoughtfully designed with a gorgeous glass dome that lights the mall naturally during most of the day. There are adorable coffee shops, a movie theater and gorgeous art on the walls.
